DISTRIBUTION: This moth is widely distributed throughout the British Isles, with the exception of the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and the Shetlands.

 

WING SPAN: 16 to 19mm.                                STATUS: Resident.

FLIGHT PERIOD: The adult moths are on the wing in June and July, and some times come to light.

LARVAL PERIOD: Larvae can be found in May and June, feeding on moss at the base of trees.

HABITAT: They can be found in many places where there are trees and moss.

 

FOOD PLANT/S: Various mosses on the base of trees, and probably on ground dwelling mosses.
